I service my Tohatsu 9.8 in the fall filling the crankcase to the top mark, maybe slightly over. Temperatures are cool then.

Fast forward to summer temps and running the outboard under load. Oil expands creating an overfull situation causing bubbles from the rotating crankshaft dipping into the oil. When one of those bubbles finds its way to the oil pressure sensor the sensor detects low, or zero, pressure triggering an RPM limiter (so I read and experienced) and turning on the red warning light. The episode(s) were very brief and caused me much concern until I figured it out.

Check your level, don't overfill.

Good advice. Here's some more from a Tohatsu service shop. (I've seen these instructions elsewhere--particularly the "run and tip up" steps.)

Now on Eastern 27 Sarge (but still sailing when I can).
